The legendary EOS system of Canon cameras turned 30 and to celebrate Canon hosted a bunch of events. We were tasked with creating, shooting and directing a 60 second instagram videos to sum up the event
To create an inspirational, Instagram friendly, 60 second video which encapsulates the Canon #EOS30Years event held at Aldych Tube stationOur brief was simple but we knew we needed to create a captivating piece of video content or it would be lost in the sea of other posts. It’s so vitally important that Instagram posts are quick paced and attention grabbing. We made sure the video was cut fast to hold people attention while also painting a story of what was happening on the day. Also, a fast pace cut makes it move interesting as many will be viewing this video on Instagram without sound.
It’s been over 30 years since the first EOS camera was released. Canon celebrated it’s three decade long run with events, merchandise and a few drinks for good measure.
One of the events they ran was in the abandoned tube station at Aldwych. David Parrey from Canon was lucky enough to get permission from TLF to allow people from CanonUKs Instagram community to come along and shoot some images.
Inside the tube station guests were greeted with the historic cameras from the last 30 years including some really rare ones. It was incredible to see how the EOS range has evolved over the years. In addition to the old school cameras to look at, there was plenty of new cameras and lenses that people could go away and play with. For many, it was the first time they had the opportunity to pick-up amazing cameras like the Canon EOS 1DXII and 5D Mark IV and also, to try some of the incredible lenses too.
If you look closely you'll see an appearance from Kia Man Wong who's a big of a legend in the YouTube photography game. Result: We absolutely love that CanonUK really nurture their Instagram audience. They care about Instagram influencers and are keep to make great video content for their brand.
Our video went out on CanonUK Instagram, was released in parts as Instagram Stories and was shared across YouTube and Facebook too. The response was great with a lot of people inquiring into when future Canon Instameets were being held as well as being an excellent piece of visual branding.
